Hi, I’m Sanne!

Full of energy, I create parties and weddings with taste, colour and above all a big dose of you. Based in Nijmegen, working as far as Brabant and Utrecht.

Why I do this

“San, what do you think?” “How do I make this look good?” “Could you sort this out?” “Could you look into this?”

For years, the people around me have been asking me these questions, and I answer them with love. So at some point I thought: if people see me like this, I really should do something with it, right? I grew up among the flowers and bridal bouquets in my parents’ shop. So weddings got into my blood early on! And nothing makes me happier than people coming together.

For years I was busy being creative, organising, managing and arranging things for organisations. But I’d much rather do it for people who really want to create something. I once thought: I’ll start a restaurant, then I’ll spend all day with food and people. But I soon realised that wouldn’t give me enough satisfaction. I don’t just want a place of my own. I want something with more meaning!

Your party or wedding can really tell a story. About you, about what matters to you. I love translating that into a day where your guests really get to meet each other. With local makers and seasonal flowers. A super fun party, and a day everyone keeps talking about.

Colour makes me incredibly happy. When everyone goes left, I go right. Give me a deadline and a list of things to sort out and I come alive! Does it get busy and stressful? I stay calm. I’m a doer, with tact. And if I don’t know something? I’ll figure it out. You enjoy, I run!

What I stand for

Well made, joyfully celebrated

I believe that anything worth celebrating deserves to be celebrated joyfully. Dancing until your feet hurt, a table full of colourful dishes, raising your glass and singing along until you lose your voice.

And it can be done with a little extra. That’s where my focus is.

For years I’ve been working on a world that’s more fun for everyone. Honest food, fair work, makers with a mission and less waste. I bring that to weddings and parties. Because a day like this deserves to be celebrated well, and it can do good too. Those go together perfectly. Even better: it only makes the party more fun!

Makers who do good?For the parties Sunnies organises, this is the bare minimum. We know the craftspeople with a story, and you can feel it.
Something close to your heart?Maybe there’s a cause that really moves you. Animals, nature, your neighbourhood or a foundation that means a lot to you. Tell me, and we’ll weave it into your party!
Secondhand and borrowed?A vintage dress, grandma’s tableware, decorations that have been to ten parties already. That’s what gives it character! And afterwards we pass it on.

What I did before

  1. 2001Aged ten: playing restaurant for my grandparents. With a menu. And tips.
  2. 2007Aged sixteen: my first job in hospitality
  3. 2011Tourism degree in Breda
  4. 2016Hospitality management in Australia, working at places like the Four Seasons in Sydney

  6. 2024Freelance project manager and marketer, including co-organiser of events, food tours, street festivals and symposia.

What I’m like to work with

Together we think: oh yes, this would be even more fun!Your ideas are the starting point. I think along, build on them and make sure they can really happen. My favourite question: couldn’t we also…?
I stay calm when it gets busy or stressful.I’ve worked in hospitality and events since I was sixteen. A full house, something happening that shouldn’t have? I find a solution and you don’t even notice anything was wrong.
Food is (almost) my favourite subject.Food is my thing. I’ve worked in hospitality since I was sixteen, organised food tours and know what makes a dish both delicious and beautiful. And the table is where it happens: that’s where people who’ve never met before start talking.
I find the best local makers.Caterers, florists, musicians and venues that suit you. I only work with makers who really have something to say and do something good.
